Does anyone know of anywhere in the Annapolis, MD area to rent a beach cat?

If anyone has a boat they'd consider renting / lending I'd be interested in that also... I'd be willing to provide a deposit. I have been sailing for >20 years. Owned a Hobie 16 for 8, a Hobie 18sx for 5, and a Corsair tri for 5 years. Want something to take younger (12ish) cousins out where there's a chance of getting wet, sailing around and having some fun...

None that I know of. In fact, I'm not aware of ANY small sailboat rentals anywhere in MD (Ocean City excepted) or VA other than the Washington Sailing Marina in DC (The sailing school there has some 16s, but I'm pretty sure they're not rentals). I think your best bet is going down to Galesville and crewing for some of the WRCRA weeknight events, and getting to know those guys.

Oops! forgot about http://www.ultimatewatersports.com/ at Gunpowder Falls State Park north of Baltimore. They have Waves and maybe Getaways.

Come down and meet the WRCRA Fleet. One of us might be able to score you a ride or boat to lend.

Twenty-five years ago I rented Hobie 16's (all of which had been de-powered and were in pretty rough shape) at what was then the last rental place in Annapolis. At that time (do a quick calculation for today's prices) the rental was between $75-100 per day.

After renting twice, I just went out and bought my own 16': $1,500.

Stongly recommend the Galesville route. You not only will get to go sailing, you may make some friends for life.
