Hi,
I'm ordering new sails and wondering if anyone out there has valid data on Nacra Infusion (2006) mast surface so I'm not jeopardizing the 17 sqm-rule when up for measurement.

Also, any Infusion sailor out there who have tried a real fathead main (more than 1000 mm top) and like to tell the results?

Kind regards,
J E

What would be the point in +1000mm? It contravenes class rules!

Your sailmaker should be responsible for making the sail measure correctly. Most are willing to modify, free of charge, if it fails measurement. Usually the foot gets trimmed, it's the easiest spot.

TEAMVMG: Thanks for that. I wonder if there is a decimal more in your cert.

Tiger mast surface is measured at 1,51 sqm.
Since Infusion mast is appr. 3 cm more shouldn't it mean that the Infusion surface is more like 1,75m2?

And yes I know your sailmaker should know this but the problem occurs when you convert a Tiger main for Infusion use.

Tiger mast is tear drop, the Infusion mast is Wing (more surface area)

is there a formal or informal definition of a wingmast?

something like, "a wingmast is defined as a teardrop section rotating mast, controllable, that makes up at least 10% of the chord of the sail"

because there are tables around that start the calculation at 5% of chord

Will R: Thanks for pointing that out. I did not see it needed clarification.
