What is the best type of rear beam mast caddy to use? Any pictures of a homemade design that works well?
Thanks

made from 2x8, screwed and glued. You can see how the traveler track is notched out. I secure it in place with bungees.

I just use one f my old tyres from the Impreza; Yes they are heavy, but they allow me to get some tension as they give a little.

Added bonus is that (as I carry another one) they can act as stern supports when the boat is placed on hard ground (as well as the foam ones I have).

I was going to say, I don't see anything that looks like a mast caddy. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Polystyrene block cut to shape. If you want to look after it cover it in light mutton cloth with a pva style glue and paint it.

This mast caddy was created from UHMW plastic sheet. I believe it was a cutting board in its past life.

You can pretty much see how it was built if you look at the picture carefully and spend a moment pondering on it.

The nut on the left side is the closure. It pivots up in between the notch there. The caddy is connected to the rear beam with old bungee run thru holes drilled in the plastic. Use stainless screws (note rust).

This was conceived and built by David Tilley, Franklin, Louisiana.

I've got an extra mast cradle that attached to the rear beam. It's from one of my old 5.2's. I don't need it. It is located in Texas. If you're still looking for one, make me an offer. It attaches to the rear crossbeam and then to the mast.

I don't have means to a digital camera and I can't figure out how to download from my cell phone to the computer.
The description is as best as I can do....
It is black, neophrene plastic, with two pivot points. One point attaches to the rear cross beam and a long bolt tightens up for security. The top cradle pivots left and right, fore and aft. It has a wide opening to fir most any cat. mast. a long bolt goes through the top to secure the mast.
I've tried to look these up on the internet to download a picture from there, but I can't seem to find them.
You can go to www.sailingtexas.com
go to sailboat photo gallery and letter "N".
Pull up the Nacras and look for the 5.2 from Georgia. It has a picture the with mast being cradled from the rear beam. That is the cradle that I have.

In Christ
