For those who may be interested here is a new mosquito under construction. I have been looking at this forum for some time and found many good tips used in the construction. Skeeta II has been under construction for about 12 months and is now ready to paint. It should be ok for next season - but then again I thought it would be ready for last Christmas. Anyway attached is a picture of where I'm up to now and more pic's can be posted on completion if there is any interest. Cheers

Hi Ben,it will be red with black beams and tramp. The hulls are under 17kgs each before painting and it's quite solid so I'm quite happy with that. cheers

Sounds good.
Where is Kyabram. Where are you going to sail it?

Kyabram is in Northern Vic, half way between Shepparton and Echuca. Waranga is the local club and I plan to do some regatta's

Mick,

Great to see another timber Mozzie. Did you use 4 mm ply throughout ? Do you expect it to be minimum platform weight ?

You may need to check with the association regarding your new registration number. 1811 is already sailing at Somers.

looks good enough to varnish.
And as Peter said check with the association about your number there might have been a mistake with the number. if your plans are for 1811. call up for another number, before you get your sails made.
what sail maker are you using?

It's made from 3mm gaboon and I expect it to make minimum weight. Looks like we have a problem with the sail number, though. I confirmed the sail number via email with the association back in about September/October and Goodalls have already made the sail in the latest myla materials

Just looked at my files and confirmed that on July 4th this year the association agreed 1811 would be my sail number.

Dis is a bit of a concern is there also another 1810 out there somewhere because I got my number after July. I think it was about October 2007. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> Suppose we'll have to wait and see.

at 17 kg a hull with out paint it will be under weight. my hulls were 17kg without decks on them, my boat is carrying 1.75 kg of lead.
Have you doubled the deck, or are you trying to go glass either side of the 3mm?
on my boat i had glass on the inside only and split the deck since then i have doubled the deck, as the plans say to and it is very strong now.

Hi Rob, In the centre deck I used three 25mm x 3mm stringers on their edges. Effectively I went with the theory that if you supported a ruler on its edge, over a less than 200mm clear span, it can hold a fair bit of force. These stringers are wider than a ruler, ply, and coated in resign, so I hope they do the job. No doubt if wore my stilettos I would punch a hole right through, but I think I only need to worry about a knee or elbow. Anyway for now I think they’re pretty solid so we’ll just have to wait.
