Posts: 713 WA, ID, MT | Sure, I'm the last guy to need a fourth cat, but....I'm looking at an '85 Stiletto, no sails and a Supercat 20 tall rig mast(38.5', triple spreader) instead of the std 36' Stiletto extrusion. In shopping for new sails, I called Tom Haberman @ Aquarius Sails(mfgr of Supercats and ARC cats), and he expressed reservations about using this rig, designed for a 450 lb boat, on an 850 lb boat. And I do want to run a spin and/or hooter, and again, this mast was not designed for that. I do sail in a lot of light air, could this rig be used judiciously, reefing early(smaller high wind main?), not running spin/screacher over x knots? Keep the spin hlyd tang close to the hounds? Am I capable of the necessary restraint? Opinions cheerfully entertained!
