I am moving my spreaders (newer style) from my old Tiger mast to my new one and have noticed a decent amount of corrosion between the spreader and stainless bracket as well as where the stainless clevis pins that hold the spreader to the bracketa are. I am surprised by the amount of corrosion given the spreaders are less than a year old. Has anyone experienced this and if so what remedies to prevent it are there since stainless and aluminum are on opposite ends of the galvanic scale?

Tef-gel where you can put it, will go along way to help. Try to rinse with fresh water as often as possible.

Tef-Gel sure is pricey. Anybody have experience with Lanocote? Looks a little more cost effective if it actually works.

Only a $1.00 an ounce more if you get it from Layline/Mike Krantz. Rick may carry it also. It comes in a nice syringe w/ a brush. I just had a front beam bolt break off upon removal. I had used some other anti galv. spray. After peeling the forward deck off ,re-seating the backing plate, paying $17 for a new bolt, and putting my now chipped all up ,foredeck back on, I'd have paid alot more to have had it in there. You can bet it is now.

Duralac works too.

I didn't have enough duralac when putting my new spreaders on so am experimenting with some 100mph tape (grey-sticky-weld) under the spreaders and duralac on the rivets. Will pop it off next winter to check on progress. It is only supposed to provide a barrier between the two surfaces.

I've used sail repair tape for both this (with duralac) and potential wear areas (ie spinnaker bail)

Great idea with the tape. Maybe a wrap of tape around the spreader end before inserting into the bracket along with the Tef-Gel on the screw and clevis pin will do the trick. I admit that I am partially to blame as the boat gets a good rinse off after use the mast may not be so lucky. I know now.
