I agree with the E Class assessment of it being regional. We are in the central location of the E scow with a ton of them in my YC, and the farthest they EVER travel is either to Wisconsin or Minnesota, but usually its just a trip to Okoboji from here for them. The MCs are spread out a bit more, but I can't see the fun of having a boat that cost $15k that my 14 can keep up with tack for tack all the way around the course. The portsmith numbers are almost the same between a 14 and MC and you don't have to pop your collar and wear plaid shorts to fit in on a 14......

I'm a happy cat sailor, so I'm not defending the MC. I just think the MC is just up there because it's a good youth boat and easy to sail. You can't stall them in a tack and they sail downwind fairly well. I've seen them get into tacking duels before.

With that said. My sloppy worn out 16 can do a horizon job on a brand new MC.


I can't figure out how the butterfly made the list....
