I did some tests with Interlux Interdeck, with increasing amounts of non-skid additive and also some aerosol spray on called Industrial Choice Anti-slip from Rustoleum.
I applied all to a section of plexiglass about 8"x4" each test square. When dried, I put on Gul sailing booties on the plexi and applied water under them. The booty had a 1lbs weight in it and I tied off a fishing scale to one end. Dragging the wet boot across the test patches gave me a measurement of traction on the scale. The Interlux was not the best...even with quite course amounts of additive. The aerosol was nearly 2x the traction. I had used both the clear and the black, with black giving about 0.5x more traction as the clear. So, I tried in on the hull gunwales...thinking it would likely come off in a couple of weeks....well it held up for over 2 years and only now it could it do with a refresh. Traction has been superb. One of the best things about it...it does not make the surface to rough that is eats through your drysuit or rip skin off your knuckles. I'm thinking to cover the whole deck with it.
Mike.
