I'm usually on the front of the boat but at that time I was the ground crew who was trying to kick and free the now wedged dagger out of the hull. Only placing blame where it's due in this case wink (any trying to attest to the durability of an I20 daggerboard!)

Hmmmm....can the ground crew shed blame on the boat crew (person on the front of the boat)? I'm not sure of the hierarchical order here but I thought only the skipper could do that.

I saw this T-shirt the other night on TV.
"It was on fire when I got here"

Well, same situation, dagger was stuck in the sand and the Spi was still up when I got there (in 3' of water)..... wink

Even then there are many restrictions per the recently renegotiated Crews Union contract of 2009.

I didn't know that we had a new collective bargaining agreement, I guess I better review it and get my skippers to sign them prior to going on the water. I don't want to be in violation and have a grievance filed against me, lol

Really great event! 177 boats total, though only about a dozen multi-hulls. Beautiful day, though winds were light early. Mark Smith caught the first wind shift and jumped out to an early lead. Will/Brian were able to run him down and blew past him on the 2nd wind shift. Wind finally came in as the weatherman predicted about 3/4 of the way out to the island. Andy and I missed both shifts, and several jib/main boats handed us our lunch. Took us over 4 hours to make it out there, and a quick jib reach brought us back in an hour and a half.

Overall great event, definitely one to add to your calendar next year.

Backatcha Will!

Brian and Will took first to finish and first in class!

It was down to the last five miles. Brian and Will were cookin' with gas when the wind finally came on. I tried not to let them pass me but I came in behind them as soon as I could.
