Posts: 3,293 Long Beach, California | They were on a borrowed Infusion - an hour or so into the race they "broke the mast." I don't have any details - I got it second-hand from someone that talked with Tomko on his drive home today. John and Ian were reported to be okay. The Official Blog description sounds like a failed shroud to me - the mast and sail were separated from the boat and were recovered some time after the crew made it ashore, and the ground crew found beach access to ease recovery. http://www.gt300.com/Home/race-news-2009

After watching Lionel Messi play, I realize I need to sail harder.
