I thought I’d throw this one out to the group to see if anyone had any comments or suggestions other than “lose weight.”

I weigh 205 lbs and I am having trouble keeping the boat in balance, particularly in light winds. I get a lot of churn off the stern and a low pitch gurgle.

When I trap out under higher winds, I feel I can get the balance right as the gurgle goes away and I get a good clean wake and a higher pitch hiss as the boat goes through the water. I generally have my forward foot slightly ahead of the shroud to achieve this balance.

In lighter winds, I move up on the boat, ahead of the shroud, but I feel the stern is still dragging too much and it is hard to run the tiller from this position. I am thinking about using the collapsible stick from my Hobie to make it easier to use versus the long one-piece stick on the Blade.

I think you'll have to go to the telescoping stick. As the wind permits, get as far forward as possible, and in toward the mast. Even at 230 I can get the gurgle to quiet down. The hum might be an unfair edge.

Sounds good. I have seen the speed pickup on the GPS by moving both up and towards the center.

I fixed my non telescopic stick off center on the tiler bar. Not by much, but in low wind I can put if flat on the middle of the trampoline and leave it there when I tack. I lock it between the mast and the spi halyard cleat on the front beam.

With it there I can drive the boat while sitting on the front beam with small gentle pushes on it.
