Wow, $735 to register your boat is a hefty sum. I think I would have been willing to risk getting a $200 ticket as well. Why so much?

I think that must be the 6.5% sales tax for the boat he is currently sailing. The registration fee is very minor, but he has to pay the sales tax before he can register it.

Yep, gotta pay the sales tax, and now its up to 6.875%, when it was 6.5%.

Try 9.75% here in Long Beach. I love the social services - there's a new park a block away and my street was repaved last week, but I cringed when I bought the new boat.

DNR = Department of Natural Resources. Keep in mind that they do some very worthwhile things for Minnesotans. Back when I had a job, I worked with the DNR and equivalent agencies in several states across the South while investigating hazardous waste sites. The DNR Karl encountered (Game Wardens are employees of DNR) does valuable work that should be funded to the benefit of all Minnesotans.
