Will there be time to put 40 boats on the scale Thursday night?

has it changed that much? My last boat policy with Progressive was $200 per year and it included replacement cost for my N20 and $1million USD liabilty. And it covered racing.

I recall State Farm had something about the same price.

What did the one design program charge?

Don't forget, if all you can get for primary liability coverage is $300,000, you can buy a personal umbrella liability policy (if you don't already have one) that will boost your coverage to $1 million (or more) for a couple of hundred.

The added bonus is that this umbrella would cover over your auto and home liability policies, too.

There's more than one way to skin a beachcat....

Matt...

Looks like a compass ring out of a Cracker Jacks box grin. I found a compass in a box of old gear today. I'll just duct tape it to the mast and be done with it. Crazy, useless rule smirk. The compass rule was waived at the recent NAF18's. Along with the paddle and towline. The exact wording was in the NOR and on the official notice board (hint, hint).

All...

Karen Ann will be writing up the final schedule draft this weekend and doing an eBlast to all who are already registered. Lots of meals and entertainment are on hand.

Looks like the event will be closer to 50 boats shocked given all the buzz about who is coming. We're already over the 40 milestone unofficially. If you haven't registered already, please do so to help with planning purposes. You'll also get Karen Ann's eBlast before it's posted.

See you all on the very BIG start line grin

JB cool

PS: I've been informed that you will be able to pay your reg fees with a credit card. This is good for the US teams competing. No need to get CDN$$$ before hand and the CC will automatically do the exchange rate. Thanks KAX.

Just got an update from KarenAnn that the insurance requirement has been lowered to $100,000! Thank you for listening to our concerns! Looking forward to the event, will be pulling in Wednesday evening with 2 boats... looking to explore Toronto that night and start sailing Thursday morning (hangover dependent)... any recommendations on where to go for a group of 24 year old guys?

I was looking at the NOR and is says that any boat is subject to inspection during the regatta and crews will be weighed. I am confused how the weighing of boats Thursday fits into this?

What are you confused about? It doesn't imply that the weighing of boats or people on Thursday is optional, but rather that people's weight can go up or down during an event, and so crew must be legal weight for the whole event, not just the weigh in.

The NOR does not mention the weighing of boats before the regatta. I think if you want to weigh boats, it should be in the NOR.

If its an F18 it should have been weighed and have valid measurement certificate already

There is only 1 boat in the US with a valid measurement cert. I suspect the Canadians are in a similar situation. This has been an extremely tough nut to crack in the US.

So you guys are going to measure, weight, and certify +/-50 cats & sails before the event?
I'm assuming you cant compete without a valid measurement certificate?

No . . .

They are going to weigh boats.

Hobie, NACRA and Capricorn sails are assumed to be F18 class legal.

There are only 3 brands of boats at this event.

4 Brands, don't forget Mystere!
So if you assume the sails are legal, why not assume they are class legal weight?

As for weighing them, yes. Measuring sails is another topic and I don't have the answer to that question. It may be that we measure only the non-manufacturer supplied sails.

Hobie and Nacra have an arrangement with the F18 class that their sails are automatically approved.

More details on the trailing session:
9-12: inside seminar in main building
1pm: 2 or 3 practice races (very short ones)
after that back to the main clubhouse for debriefing for an hour or so.
