Hi Chris,

What do you need? Though not a Reg boat, my SailCraft of Canada rigging pics can be seen here:

Hello Mike, I am looking for details at the foot of the mast, mail sail and jib downhaul and mast rotator setup, a neighbor of mine bought a 1990 Reg White and it is different to my 1978 sailcraft of Canada T.

Mike, question for ya... in this pic, it seems to me the 4 way cross wire has a ton of slack. this leads to the block sitting 1' (give or take) above the tramp.

[Linked Image]

would it matter / be better if it was tight/lowering the blocks or do you just adjust the fore/aft position to adjust for this?

Andrew.

Your pic didn't load, but I think you are talking about the jib "horse" cable across the tramp. The ends of the cable attach to sliders running in alu tracks rivetted to the inner gunwales. If the cable is not slack, the loading from the jib block will tend to pry the tracks off the hull. If the cable were completely tight/straight across the tramp, the mechanical advantage when a 90 degree force is applied becomes huge. By have what appears as a very slack cable, the force is much better controlled/angled, dispersing the loading at the track.

Fore/aft sheeting angle on the sail is easily achieved by sliding the cable ends back & forth where needed. Inboard/outboard "slot" adjustment is made with the block adjustment lines (green) along the cable. System works quite will, although the horse is a problem while tacking.

gotcha, makes perfect sense. my mystere has a very similar system, with the exception.. my tracks are partially pulled out (due to the force you mention).

my "horse" is vectran and semi lose... i was going to tighten it up... but now i think not!

thanks Mike
