Wow, Bundy has 1, OCS and DNF, far from the 1,1,6 he claimed on twitter...

Also I didn't know that after being first Australian, then Dutch, Mich Booth was now a Spaniard.

His wife is Spanish and he's had a home there for many years.

The organisation is a bit of a mess, yesterday Mr.Bovyn had to call out 160 sailnumbers so that we could collect our coloured ribbon, this also meant racing was delayed by an hour.
The opening ceremony was equally chaotic with a barely audible sound system and nothing like what an opening ceremony should look like for an event like this.
Yesterday the sailing was great though, a very tough fleet with very close racing and crowded starts.

Email from Mike Easton about yesteray's racing and today's predicted conditions...

First day of racing went ok here. The wind was probably the best of the
whole event (10-15 kts). Definitely a huge learning curve when we're
starting with 80 other boats. You have to line up at least 2min before the
start and then hold your position there if you want any chance of being
first row. Competition is really tight with everyone going about the same
speed, especially the top guys. It's all about the start and first beat
because after that there's not many passing lanes and you can't just boat
speed ahead of everyone else. We finally got our ****/nerves sorted out by
the 3rd race. Hoping for more results like that.

Today the wind is looking really light. Looking like a max of 5kts today.
Ugh!

-Mike

GO USA!!!

Robbie/JW are 34th. Any guess how well they will finish?

It amazes me. In the last year, I was able to match course and speed with Robbie/Taylor for almost a whole leg! Maybe 5-6 minutes...as they were lapping me.

This is a very subtle game...

I'm surprised they're that low, but I'd be shocked if Robbie didn't bounce back in the light stuff, that <7 stuff is his wind.

What is the format? Two courses, how many fleets? How do you move to different fleets?

The NOR does a good job describing the course and format.

After 3 races the scores are silly tight they have a 10, 31, 14 and with the scoring being so tight the 31 really hurts. Considering Robbie's coaching/work schedule and the very limited amount of time Robbie and JW have actually sailed together they aren't doing too bad especially when you factor in what they are up against.

Props to Greg and Jacques! Top 20 after day one.

Mike and Tripp are also sailing well in their first F18 Worlds! You think they were fast before, wait until they get back, you don't go to a Worlds and get slower!

Let's not forget our fourth US team; Garth Fasano and Tyler Burd!

Results are up after 6 races. This link is the the results page and not just the daily sheet.

http://www.cvberquy.org/f18worlds2010/results/

Greg and Jacques continue to be the top US team and moved up a spot to 19th.

Robbie slipped a bit and is now 37th. EASTON / BURD moved up to 32nd.
