How do you determine the correct position of the main outhaul? I've heard that there could be a fixed position and it then varies alongside the main downhaul. How do I find this position?

I set mine with the main sheeted tight and the down haul fully on. then I pull the out haul till the sail had about 1/2 inch deflection.

That is what I've been told from others. However, when I sheet in as much as possible, the outhaul can't be moved anymore. So I assume an adjustment and check if I end up with 0,5 inch?
