I have put the series together in an attempt to generate more interest in F18 racing in the southern area. With the 2012 Worlds right around the corner it’s almost time to start accumulating your points. The series is a best of 5 and a minimum of 3 attended to qualify. I’ll keep the schedule open for additions until December 31 at which time I’ll lock it down.

The Southern Area is defined as it is drawn here: http://www.naf18.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/USF18areamap400x3241.gif

Points awarded follow the same structure used for tracking points at the national level.

http://www.naf18.com/wordpress/info/f18-rankings/

http://naf18.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/points.png

I hope to have webpage built by November 7.

If you would like to see a regatta added to the schedule please email me with the request, my email is in my profile.

My goal is to be like Ding and raise all my battle flags on my halyard at night, it's just SOOOO cool!! Haha

Seriously though, good work getting the series together and getting Mike to throw in the prizes. I will definitely be gunning for you a lot harder now that there is a prize at stake smile Not sure if you can handle that!

We sailed yesterday in 30 knots but it was only 45 degrees out... I can't wait to get down to Florida!

I can't wait for you to get back down to FL again too. It's been far too long since I've said "Grandpa Ding beats the Punk... AGAIN!"

Tad, doesn't surprise me, that you wouldn't be sailing that is! Do you have a waterproof laptop so you can go on catsailor in your pool?

Ding... we're 1 for 1 in Florida by the way! You beat us at Steeplechase and I got you at Tradewinds! And we all know why you beat us at Steeplechase (stupid convenient redress).

Good one Karl... but he needs to remember roughly where he put his boat first... I bet he uses the waypoint for the Carribean Club when he leaves the hotel in the morning.

For the record Mike approached me. Thirty minutes after I sent the "What you guys think about a Winter Series?" email Mike emailed with a proposition that I couldn't refuse.

Thanks again Mike!

Yes, you put a proper beat down on us at Tradewinds. Please note the absence of some weak a$$ excuse as to why you beat us.

If I recall Mr. Punk you could have used a way point or two at the Steeplechase last year yourself. Weren't you one of the teams that happily sailed right on by Anglefish? Oopsee!

I can't help it if I thought following Steve Lohmayer, the 1 million time winner of the race, was a safe bet. We were looking at our gps and the arrow to our next waypoint pointing over our shoulders going "WTF?!?" for about 5 minutes before we saw those guys turn around.

OK, so now that's officially TWO "weak a$$ excuses" for the same race...

The whole concept of "winterizing" pools in Florida has always made me laugh. Of course, I'm from New England, where the warmest our pools get is about as cold as they ever get in FL. (OK, not literally, but you get the idea...)
