You just have date of birth for juniors, don't you need it for veterans division as well, after all can't just go by lack of hair or greyness , some of us might not be picked as over 50 . Then again some might be picked as over 50 and there not .
It's an absolute disgrace that I'm not coming and frankly, we should both receive a "summary execution at dawn" to improve our attitudes!!!
Having said that, I hereby grant a Presidential Pardon to myself. If anyone else needs one, I'm adopting the FIFA approach to securing my mercy. All major credit cards accepted.
Good luck to everyone going..wish I was.

I went for a ride over to Portarlington last week via great ocean rode to check the place out. The club has a strip of sandy beach in front with lots of room for launching and plenty of grassed area either side for rigging. There is a fenced area around the club that the locals store their boats in, we would be able to get the fleet in there if they took most of the local boats out. Water looks flat, as expected, so it will just be the Port Philip chop to contend with.
Portarlington itself has a couple of pubs, takeaways and an IGA supermarket all on Newcombe street. The place I have booked is about as far from the club as you can get and still be in Portarlington and its only 2.5km from the club.
From Adelaide is an easy 9 hour drive via Ballarat.
Looks like a great place for the Nationals and I am really looking forward to checking out how fast the Victorians are sailing after all the recent coaching and close competition.
The club's intention is to fit all the boats in the fenced compound, if possible, and have the trailers in a separate area that will be closed off to cars but not the public.
Well done Darryn, I also rode from Adelaide to Geelong via GOR back in 1970 but it took me 1 week. You must have been pedalling very fast to do it in 9 hours.
Tortured ply is clearly beautiful. Mozzie Aldebaran VI 1827

Bellarine Bayside for me, about 250m from the club I was told . Hope we don't get any Northerlies though , will blow straight into the campsite, nothing but beach in front I believe.
Few other Vics in same park I believe, but you had to be quick. Which reminds me, have to pay balance of cost soon :(, double wammy expensive and have to pay full amount before you even turn up .

Hi All, Due to Saturdays woolly weather no -one sailed anywhere in Adelaide, so it wasn't really surprising to have 7 mk1 mossies on the beach at Normanville Sunday. Getting some on water time prior to the Nats, last count there should be 12 boats from SA going to Port Arlington, Cheers, Roy, Rebel without a Clew, 1770
Numbers should be good with 12 S.A. boats coming, I believe there will be 6 from the Gippsland Lakes. That's got the east and the west covered, how many from in between
OK, we are all booked in and paid for (late I know!)
Where is everyone staying? We are on Boat Road Section G. Unfortunately we cant get until the 3rd though so I wont be entering the invitation race in favour of setting up tents

if any one needs any accommodation at the camping site, the camp sites i believe are big, i can fit one other tent as i have a booking for 2 adults and willing to share cost. Matt
Nationals results so far, after 5 races. No discard yet but there will be one after the next race.
Cats 1. D. Kopp 3,3,2,5,3 2. G Maskiell 1,1,11,1,5 3. B Wilson 2,7,10,3,1 4. M Stone 4,5,12,2,2 5. T Shepperd 8,2,8,4,10 6. R Bennett 5,10,6,8,6 7. P Pearce 7,11,3,6,9 8. P Mann 6,8,13,7,7
Sloops 1. W Kemp 1,4,1,1,4 2. M Floyd 3,1,2,2,5 3. N Joiner 2,3,5,4,1 4. S Hallsworth 4,2,4,3,3 5. P Warren-Smith 5,6,6,6,6 6. N Baglioni 10,7,9,5,2
Two more races today. Light this morning (no trapezing), and just enough for the cats to trapeze this afternoon (lovely!). Much less shifty and gusty than Tuesday. There is one drop to count now, so it looks like Warwick has the sloops sewn up with no need to sail the last race.
One more race to sail and the forecast for tomorrow is windy!
Cats 1. G Maskiell 1,1,11,1,5,1,1 2. D. Kopp 3,3,2,5,3,2,9 3. B Wilson 2,7,10,3,1,4,2 4. M Stone 4,5,12,2,2,6,5 5. T Shepperd 8,2,8,4,10,3,3 6. R Bennett 5,10,6,8,6,8,6 7. P Mann 6,8,13,7,7,11,4 8. P Pearce 7,11,3,6,9,7,13
Sloops 1. W Kemp 1,4,1,1,4,1,1 2. M Floyd 3,1,2,2,5,2,3 3. N Joiner 2,3,5,4,1,3,5 4. S Hallsworth 4,2,4,3,3,4,2 5. N Baglioni 10,7,9,5,2,7,4 6. P Warren-Smith 5,6,6,6,6,6,8
The final race was won by Simon Hallsworth in the sloops and myself in the cats. Gary Maskiell finished 2nd, giving him the mk1 title overall. After all the promise of 20 knots it turned out to be another semi-trapezing race after all - in a large slop left over from the 20 knots that had been there before we launched!
Hi all, A few pics from the Portarlington Nationals, 1/all loaded up 7am 1/1/2011 for the 900km trip, 2/ Mossies in the backyard at the digs, 3/Simon and Peter Hallsworth,Peter Nickolson ,Simon Bone and Rick Verboon unloading boats for measuring, Cheers, Roy.
got back yesterday, what a great regatta . Easy for me to be happy I guess, but I was totally impressed with the big fleet and general attitude of the sailors. Very competitive, but friendly at the same time, a combination that is not found in all classes .
After winning last years Nats with out Darren and Bob attending , I was doubly keen to win this one . Just happy that new centreboards, rudders and further tuning made it possible .
Would like to thank Bob and Darren in particular for the spirit in which we raced, when wins come down to margins of 2 seconds, Port-Starboards on the finish line and OCS disqualifications after finishing races, things can get tense , but the friendliness prevailed .
Also a big thanks to Tim, Neil, Peter, Mitch and Nick. The GLYC fleet, that I have the luck to compete with every week , without the quality of competition at home and the ready sharing of information on techniques and tuning it would be far more difficult to be on the pace when it comes to competing elsewhere .
Finally thanks to every one of the 34 competitors that made the effort to participate, you made the 2010-11 Nats the success they where and the Portarlington Y.C. for being a willing host at short notice.
Anybody that didn't make the Nat's, put the Vic States in your diary now, or you will be kicking yourself again , for missing out on yet another great Mossie event. Look forward to seeing you all in Paynesville come the Labour Day Weekend, 12-14th March, hope we can make it as good as the Nats .
The articles on Sail-world.com and Australian Sailing are a joint effort by Mick Floyd and myself. Next time we will post daily updates on sail-world.com
There's a load of photos in the album now (thanks to Dennis for the sailing photos):
I guess no big surprise, as winds where generaly under 15 knots I think and I think it is fair to say that cat rigs clearly have the upper hand in 8-12 knots?
I think one of the interesting points is that there where 4 Sloops in the first 10, with 23 Cats and 11 Sloop rigs this would seem to go against the theory that bigger fleets result in a higher standard of sailing, as I would have expected less than 4 in the first 10 based on percentage of the fleet and conditions that suited Cat rigs.
Mind you I could be mischevious and say that I know 2 of the 4 Sloops have honed there skills in the Cat rigs , Mick and Neil have both been runners up in Cat rig Nats and Cat rig State champions .
