Ok I was going back through a monohull sailing book and they were going on about jib halyard tightness. How many people actually adjust this on the cat much? We usually pull is snug in medium air, tight in heavy air and i guess slightly less then snug in light air. On my H16 I remember the jib seemed to take over as the forestay when you tightened it up, should we be getting that tight on these boats?

Thanks

I have my jib halyard adjustment rigged back to the front beam left side, so when winds go light or get stronger, I can adjust it as needed. One thing you want to be careful of, do not over-do it if you are going downwind, because when you turn upwind and pull on the mainsheet, it could be enough 'extra' to break it.
