hi guys
i am putting a kite kit that i got given on a hurricane that i just acquired and am wondering the best way to attach the head block.
i have seen 2 ways:
1. a fixed bracket
2. string allowing the block to turn on the mast
does it matter or is 1 better than the other?

cheers

The string is better because it allows the kite to swing off to the side and not greatly affect the mast rotation. Otherwise, the spinnaker will try to rotate the mast in the opposite direction desired.

Also the string method is much easier/cheaper to rig up, just drill a couple small holes in the luff track and tie the string through a turning block, you are good to go, vs. buying and then trying to mount a bracket on the mast. And if you ever want to remove it or move it up or down, that's much easier with the string too.

Don't forget the line from the block to the top of the mast (attached eye strap) to take the load.
