I've tried contacting Phill Brander and AHPC about construction plans for the Blade and Taipan respectively and have received no reply from either. Are there any other options for the homebuilder? Does anyone have a set of plans they would like to sell? Any and all help is appreciated.

Chris Amador built his own, you might try him. He's CAB.

Try SA as well, just ask for design help. I've an Italian designer if you'd like his contact information.

I can PM you the private e-mail to Phill for plywood Blade plans.

I have a set of unused Taipain plans I can hand off if you are really serious about building. Meaning you have worked out a budget for hulls, foils, rig, sails, lines, blocks etc. Have a dedicated workshop for building and comittment from the family (if any) for building.

Hi Wayne,

talking about homebuilding.. How is your BITSA (?) doing this year? Any experiences to share?

What foils did you use for Bitsa? (I think you named it Bitsa?)

I've been stretching/modifying Chris Tucker's F12 DS12 (http://www.ctmd.com.au/download.pdf) in CAD to make it an F16. Below is a link to some hull surface models. I raised the freeboard forward, and a bit overall, and faired the hull a little (probably just an artifact of my software). I like chines because they are simpler to build, but I really don't know how severe a performance hit one will take against a rounded hull. Hull beam is about 13.5" (350mm), they are right about 5M long... Any thoughts? Since I'm having fun, I'll probably proceed in CAD with the buildable model... Also, forgive me, I'm a total newb on this forum....

What software are you using? Can it do volume calcs? A rough calc suggests your displacement is around 195 kg. Of if your building for one person but you might need to add more for a two person boat.

I started with the F12 offsets, first I increased just the scale, but it looked like a power cat. next, I just stretched them longitudinally without any beam increace. It looks like that gives me 167 kg at the datum/waterline on your print. Any suggestions for a target displacement? I was thinking I'd add a little volume forward to help with the kite... But, I'll probably start with just increasing beam incrementally...
Oh, I Use SolidEdge for calcs/modeling. I'll Probably use something simple (i.e. carlson design) to uncurve the panels, and just plot the results in solid edge.

Aside: Solid Edge has a neat feature that visually analyzes curvature on compound curves, helped me find frames where my eye wasnt good at detecting excessive bend/lumps in the side panels. Very cool...

since winter is upon me (almost) and I am throwing around ideas, are there any "off the shelf" plans for F16s around?
I am not into design really. Just need something to do!

Look at the wooden wings I posted and tell me what you think.

I would mount them into the cross bars, not the hulls.

I have been in contact with Phill but he is not selling plans at this stage.

If there are F16 plans available anywhere, please let me know.

In three months he didn´t answer me.
I can understand he is busy or doesn´t want to sell any more, but at least an answer...

I think there was originally a typo that it looks like Phill has corrected. You might want to try that again.
