Hey Guys, Just looking for some advise. Im working on the foils and board cases shortly for the hulls. Has any one built the board cases in the same shape as the foil in-staid of the rectangle on the timber hulls. For example can the foil shape be carried right through to the deck so when you look down onto the deck you see the case opening as an aerofoil shape not a rectangle "hope this makes sense"?.
Cheers
Damo :-)

Hi Matt. There is no other benefit other than easier for me to build and no mention in the rules regarding this, thanks for the tip,
Cheers

Hi Damo, I am in the process of rebuilding a Mossie, one of the things I have done was replace the old cases and boards with some I bought from JK Fibreglass. As mentioned, these cases are moulded to the board. To fit them (after glassing the old slotss). They have a lip so that you can epoxy them so the underside of the deck. To make the gluing easier, I built a false deck out of wrc and glued the boards to that, then when it came to gluing to final deck, I epoxied and nailed the deck to the false deck, then routed out the slots. Boat still isn't in the water, however it worked quite well.

Mine's a timber hull and deck and has the "look" your chasing..... rectangle opening on the deck whilst the other side is aerofoil shaped... the boards themselves are rectangular only for the depth of the hull.

Mine was epoxy filled for ~20mm at the bottom and then shaped to suit the board's curve..... they are a very firm fit and have minimal forward/aft movement.

I can do some pics if your interested in going down this path

wink
