Sarah and JC have been there over a week so I am hoping they will hold their own against some serious depth in the lineup.

There was a spot on the news last night here talking about the water quality in Rio, Scientists were saying how heavily polluted the water is and they had an interview with Nathan Outeridge, He said it was a difficult choice between avoiding debris in the water and avoiding the tide. He said he has seen everything from plastic bags to furniture... the Olympics certainly bring out a mixed bag of venues for the sailors. GLWT!

18 boats entered, apparently 3 races today (news section leaves a little to be desired).

Anyway, Sarah & JC are sitting in 13th, and Stephanie & Ian are in 15th.

Top 3 are Bundock, Besson, Cammas.

Postponed for wind this morning, but they're racing and one more race is in the books.

So, after four races:

Top 3: Besson, Bundock, Saxton (Cammas sailed another throwout).

Sarah and JC got their first top-10 race result, but the two US teams' overall standings remain at 13 and 15.

Looks like they got four in today.

Top 3 unchanged. Cammas had a terrible day and slipped further.

Sarah and JC still 13th, but only a few points behind 11th. Stephanie and Ian slipped to 16th.

One race in today so far.

Sarah/JC up to 11th (still nearly a three-way tie from 11 to 13).

Stephanie/Ian slipped to 17th.

Interestingly, there appear to have been two sets of tied boats (across the finish line) in Race 4.

Top 3 unchanged...

Very P{leasing to see JC and Sarah leveling off with another ninth and averaging around ten points a race. A 14th as a throw away is a promising sign.

Two years remain. and we definitely hope to see them in the Panhandle in late September.

Not a lot of news... still only one race scored for today (8 overall). Should be medal racing tomorrow, I believe.

Looks like it's game over in Rio...

Medal race results are up. Besson, Bundock, and Wilson were the top 3. Saxton finished last in the medal race and got flushed from the podium.

Team USA did not race (no "silver" fleet medal race scored), so they remain 11 and 17.

No Nacra fleet news posted yet, so these are just my observations from the scores.

JC and Sarah ended up one point out of the medal race. I bet that will fire them up for the second half of this year. All in all, a fine performance for a USA catamaran team. I do not think that Lovell and Ogletree, or Smyth/Glaser/Notary, ever had it as tough.

Check your math, Bert. They were one point behind after the medal race (in which they received no points). They missed the medal race by 15 points.

I would definitely like to hear more from both teams about what they learned, and what needs to change.

I taught English for forty years - not math, never bragged on math skills, but

it does appear that Cammas had 71 points total, and Sarah & Jc had 74 total pts following eight races. I missed the medal race inclusion, but when I counted both scorelines again I must correct my claim. Sarah & Jc missed the medal race by 3 points.

There are steadily improving their performance toward the top of the pyramid. I now hope they do not have to spend too much time with US Sailing Oly fundraisers. At least their stock is going up :-)

After 8 races, Cammas had 59 points. 74-59=15.

However, the Swiss got the bullet in the medal race, so they had 64 points after 8, so our team was only 10 points out of the medal race...
