I am making 4 new trap lines from 1x19 ss coated wire and was wondering if it is OK to make 2 lines from one wire - use one thimble for both lines per side. Is this structurally sound?

Sounds like it will hold, but why not just make up two wires?

In the future if one corrodes, then you just replace that one and not both.

It would work. I have mine like that. Wish I had two instead. I use one line 90 or more percent of the time. But I have to mess with all four lines every time I set up. Wish I could just add the one if I would need it. Separate them so you have one less thing to hassle with.

Thanks for the above info. I've made 4 separate lines with integrated blocks. Now we just need to get rid of the ice!

Why do you say you have to "mess with" the trapeze lines every time you set up? I leave trapeze wires and shrouds connected at all times. When I put down the mast I coil up the slack and tie them on the tramp. Setting up I use a tripod to set the mast on and uncoil the shrouds and trapeze wires. I raise the mast alone so I have to be careful the wires don't get caught on the tramp frame. I temporarily tie the trapeze wire bungee cords up near the dolphin striker to keep them in position. I've been doing it that way for 20 years.

the trap wire set up will work like that ... IIRC you can buy them like that from Murray...
Boat set up... I have to remove all shrouds and wires and forestay in order to store the mast in my garage. If the mast remains on the trailer and you are not concerned about people stealing you stuff - sure keep it attached to boat and mast. It will safe you some time setting the boat up.

I can understand why you remove everything to a safe storage area. I don't have the problem since I put the boat in my backyard so I leave everything connected. Besides, my garage is not deep enough to get the mast into it.
