While surfing around, I found a pic of a boat with a unique spinnaker--check it out! I doubt we could use one on a cat unless the wind was REALLY light, but does anyone know or have an idea what the logic is of this thing??

Interesting! A parafoil suspended, deployed by a spinnaker.

Gary, I was trying to think of some way to describe it, and I think you have done it! It's very interesting, and I am looking forward to hearing an explanation of the concept. Does anybody know who designed the sail?

Looks to me like a lazy spinnaker. Maybe that center piece is so it does not flog around, maybe for small crew on a cruiser. Seems like a lot less work to keep the chute full.

Dunno just asuming.

It reminds me a lot of the "venturi" spi we saw.. 10-15 years ago? I seem to remember that the power generated with such a spi on a dead run was higher than a convential spi.

Perhaps they are out to find more power trough having some kind of slot and an airfoil to provide lift?
Where was the picture found?

Saw an article on it, maybe it works, one feature is it has bungies going up that close the gap more in a lull..
