A Merry Christmas to you Caleb, and to all my cat cult brothers and sisters here at Catsailor! While I've only met a few of you in person, I find I think of many as real friends. A special thanks to Rick and Mary for connecting us all, or at least giving us a place to connect! Merry Christmas folks!

I am disappointed in this thread.
Where is the Christmas/holiday spirit from all the rest of you?

In Ireland we get into trouble if we say "Merry Christmas"
We are told that we are getting too "Americanised".
We have always said "Happy Christmas" and usually add "And a Prosperous New Year"

" Happy Christmas and and a Prosperous New Year" to Mary, Rick and everyone on the Catsailor Forum

Dermot,
I think "happy" is a better word than "merry."
Thank you, and Happy Christmas to you, too.

Yeah, I don't know where this "Merry" thing came from. We don't use that word for any other purpose where we mean Happy.
Just like "Gay". Can you imagine someone telling you to have a "gay Christmas"! "Beg y'pard'n mate?"

I think that fits the definition of "merry."
Another, more nautical, definition is "a spanking breeze."
