Owing to my knot tying ability, my father-in-law suggests our boat should be called the "Running Half Tangle".

Jake, you could go with the intellectual version of your favored name without Bonny knowing by choosing "OILV773" and put an up-side down "F" after the 3 so that everyone will know the name when the boat is tipped over.

Although I'm certain Bonnie would never go for it...and also because it's clearly been done before...but I still like it; "Blow Me".

First boat was "Flippen Fearless", 2nd "Flippen Fearless 2"...then big crash and the name was retired. We're now on "Plays With Matches".

Blow me!? Ha! ROTFL

Now that is funny.

A friend had a TheMightyHobie18 way back in the late 70's (one of the first ever made) that was called "Blow Job". I'm sure it has been done a million times since but it still attracts comment.

I haven't been around sailing so it is new to me. However, as much as the blowing references amuse me, being a chick named 'Wendy' on a boat with such a name would probably attract comments that I just don't want. I will just have to come up with something different.

When I got my first used H-16 in 1985 I raced against "Better than Sex" another Hobie 16. I never thought that was good because seldom did I see a woman on the boat and I was single at that time.

BTW, Sailing is still a male dominated sport.

You mean Dame Ellen McArthur. I followed her 'round the world run last year on her web site. She's one tough cookie!

Guys:

So THIS is not a male dominate sport. She didn't get to be a Dame for nothing AND sailor of the year. Girls are tuff. Maybe not as strong, but they can still kick our butt !!! I remember watching Sheila Holmes for yeara. She was hot even when I got started in 79.

Jamie,
Judy's right: don't name a boat "Wet Scream." A Hobie 16 capsized up in Vancouver years ago with two college guys on it. When the boat capsized and immediately turtled, one of the guys was trapped underneath and drowned. The next day when I saw the boat with its mess of tangled rigging sitting on shore, I noticed that the name of the boat was "Wet Screams." The name seemed ironically and horribly prophetic.

Whenever you tell that story it gives me an ill feeling inside. So then Mary I guess I should pass on using "The Delaminator"

Well there's some bad karma I wouldn't want to mess with. I always thought of it from the wet dream perspective. But if I had had your knowledge of the Vancouver incident then I would have been put off by it too. That wouldn't be a memory you'd want reminded of regularly.

I asked my dad for a name and he told me my boat should be 'ornery catch it'

Now, just what is he trying to say?

I thought about naming mine "My Boyfriend" I all ready love it. I am excited to ride it. It would always be there for me. And if it fell down I would pick it back up. And when I went sailing I could say I am taking 'my boyfriend' out. See...perfect.
Except boats are supposed to be feminine and “My Girlfriend” just doesn’t work for me. Not that there would be anything wrong with that… So, I will just have to keep thinking about it.

I don't think they HAVE to be feminine. I think when they were owned by men they were thought to be feminine but I don't see why the opposite isn't true... Go with it!
