I was told by another beachcat sailor with many years more experience than I that my mainsheet is routed incorrectly. With the blocks lying flat on the deck and looking down, mine is routed through the cleat and ratchet roller up through the bottom roller of the boom block, bottom roller of the main block, center roller of the boom block, center roller of the main block, top roller of the boom block, top roller of main block and tied to the becket of boom block. I do this with concentric winds (no figure 8's). My friend says if properly wound the mainsheet should come off the center roller of the boom block through the ratchet roller and cleat. I don't see how this can be possible without the winds crossing, getting twisted or some kind of complicated figure 8 winding. Is there a preferred method of routing the mainsheet through the blocks or am I doing it right?
