I figure SOMEBODY on this board has got to be an outdrive expert....
a friend's outdrive got all eaten up with elecrolysis last season because he didn't remove the coating on the zinc before installation. a consequence of this is that the hydraulic rams are shot, and the large steel pin that anchors the rams to the upper end of the outdrive got its threads eaten off. new rams are on the way, but now the pin's the problem... it won't come out.
is this thing pressed into the housing at the factory, or should it be loose and it's probably just electrolytically welded itself to the housing? cut-and-drill to remove it or just bang like hell with a 4pound sledge?
thanks.
