Posts: 1,253 Columbia South Carolina, USA | how much disadvantage does the roller give you? Is it wt? Is it windage, or is it something with sail shape? I have a non furling jib, but before I disassemble anything, I need the 411...

Posts: 833 St. Louis, MO, | I, personally, don't think it gives you any disadvantage. The only reason I think they did away with it is that it is no longer useful on a Jib with longer battens. Also it saves the manufacturer a bit of cost in producing the boat.
If you already have one I wouldn't worry about changing it.
