Thank you all for your Emails supporting Building 11 LLC and Sail Sand Point. Building 11 was the Navy Maintenance Facility at Sand Point Naval Air Station. The Base was closed, and deeded to Seattle by a Federal Land transfer. The property covenants required the City to make every effort to retain and reuse the historic structures and maintain the public park for recreation purposes in perpetuity. The buildings and property can not be sold, and ownership remains with the City. The Building 11 LLC proposal, which was in response to a Request For Proposal by the City, upgrades the building so it can be used at no cost to the City. In return, they have a long term lease, but the City retains ownership of the building and property.
