Thanks for the idea about the motorcycle pegs.
Using the pole as a ladder is a great idea.
It might even sell better as a "cat ladder" that also helps right the boat.
I don´t think the steps need to be retractable, just insert short tubes of smaller diameter at intervals and glue in place.
