The centerboard wells on my P-19 aren't very stiff so matching the walls up after cutting it might take some doing. You may have to glass in a backing plate to help mate the surfaces. I've repaired cracks in my wells by laying layers of glass over them and still had clearance for the boards so you do have the room. Let us know how it turns out.
