I was in Chicago for the "blizzard of (I believe)'78". Being a yoot at the time, they sent my scrawny butt up to the roof to clean the heater exhaust so carbon monoxide wouldn't back up into the house.
I'm sure it was "lake effect" snow too. It was half-way up the front door.
I'm so glad I presently don't have to know what a storm door/window is or how to use it...
but wouldn't the hot exhaust from the heater take care of melting the snow that might block it?
