Folks,
Back in 1986 I was involved in running the Australian A class National Titles.
In one race an A class came flying into the start line on the committe boat end. There was a gap at the windard end between the fleet and committe boat. Just before he made the line the gap closed. This guy came in off the wire and flew in off th wire under the boom and threw all his weight on it backwinding the main. At the same time yelling at us "Don't Touch my Boat". He put each hull of his A class either side of the committe boat. His boat stopped, backed up and got a start at the windward end just behind the first boat over at that end.
Not a bad start considering.
It may not sound like much but it was very impressive to see.
The sailor was Jay Booth. Mitch Booths dad.
Where does the talent come from.
Regards,
Phill
