The annoying part was that my crew and I were just starting to get our boat handling together and be competitive on handicap. We'd somewhat sorted out the pointing issues we had by dropping the rig forward a bit and being able to use more mainsheet tension (without it blocking out) to reduce forestay sag. Weather helm was still fine.

I didn't change the bridle height from when I bought it. There was a guy at the regatta that had a look at the hull and said it was one of those cat rig only mosquitos with twin forestays.

The decision of what to build is kind of difficult because I happen to be an engineer in naval architecture and would like to try my own design, but I don't want to spend time (don't have much of it free) developing and redeveloping a competitive design.

I'm gonna take a step back for a week or so and research a couple of ideas re: design and build or buy.
