Posts: 82 Minneapolis, Mn | The snow has fallen here in duluth mn, alas...the sailing season is done. So i've taken my boat apart and began upgrading some parts that are in bad condition. If anyone has any swivel cleats or the new style main traveler car, email me and let me know . I'd be glad to take those off your hands. Which leads me to my question....I'm looking to put on a jib traveler control system (as i hate crawling to up front to move it manualy) and i was wondering what car to use? It seems that the stock metal ones wouldn't slide as easily as the tren tec one or the "IT" as it's called in Murrays. I have the really old syle ones ('71 h16) where the cleat is right on the car, so i still have alot of options as far as placement of the 360 cleats in the crossbar. Any advice would be helpful!! Happy sailing! | | | Re: Jib traveler control system

Posts: 16 Florida | You can make a very good traveler system relatively inexpensive by just riveting a bullet block on each front corner casting and one small cam cleat [with wedge] just a few inches from the bullet block. Use hog clips to attach control line from your combination traveler and cleat so that the stop pin is always up. Then attach a piece of bungee cord from the port and starboard jib traveler cleat comb. so the cars will return to the inboard end of track except when you cleat the traveler car out with your control line.
