What kind of system do you currently have? Do you still like it or would you prefer something else? I'll take a pic of mine and post.

Is there a "technique" required to keep it from re-cleating during the douse?

Bob,

In the picture, you will notice there is no strap over the cleat. That is the secret to not cleating in a douse! When I release the halyard, it comes out of the cleat and remains in between the black plastic fairlead and the cleat. No problems, no worries.

Here is another way to do the same thing, but with a spinlock.

I've got a spinlock for the halyard, I'm always accidentaly re-cleating it when dousing.

If you try a little bungee cord from the swivel cam cleat to the spin turnning block it will pull the swivel cleat side ways some when you pop the spin halyard to drop the shute.

The halyard will drop next to the swivel cleat and not attempt to recleat it self.

At least on my boat it works well.

Mike that's a good idea. My fleet's regatta is this weekend, I think I'm going to use the stock cam cleat and your idea this weekend. It's sitting there doing nothing anyway.

We have a regatta this weekend also.
Since i am the only FX out this week end I will be racing with the Tiger fleet. We have 11 Tigers signed up and me on my FX One.
Will be interesting to see where i place in the fleet.
Make a note of your rigg settings and i will do the same. I am beginning to get an idea of where to set the boat up.

Last event I went with,(using a Loose LPT-1 guage)
Shrouds 15
Diamond wires 33
Spreader rake at 50mm
Mast rake-third hole down on fore stay(10 hole adjuster) and fouth hole up on shrouds.
The boat definitely performs beter when I increased the diamond tension a few months ago.

This weekend I am going with,
Shrouds ??
Diamond wires 38
Spreader rake at 50mm
Mast rake-2nd hole on fore stay and third hole up on shrouds.

I am trying alitle more mast rake because the helm is neutral or slight lee.
The sail shape seems to get better each time i increase the diamond tension. I'm sure there is an optimal position and soon i will probably pass it.

Oh one other thing, I tried the FX with my Tiger(F18) spin on Monday. It was 4-7, mostly light air. Any way it did not handle well. Very sluggish, somthing with the cut of the sail probably. Had to try it though.

I haven'y been running much mast rake. I'm in the 4th hole up on the shrouds, 6th hole from the bottom on the forestay. Next time its rigged I'll do like the 20 guys do and measure it with a trap line from the bow, or bridle anchor, and see where it lands on the rudders or where ever.

I have no clue what I have for diamond wire tension, (I haven't coughed up the cash for a loos gauge yet). The bottom of the adjuster, the part that rides on the plate on the mast, is almost 1/2 way down. Spreaders are set at 2-1/8" -or- 54mm from the tips of the spreaders to the mast track. The tuning guide says I should be more around 2-3/4"

With about 15mph (guest-imate)winds, these settings rocked. Could be better, not sure though. It felt and acted really sweet.

Tension on the rig? Don't know, as tight as I can get it with my 160lb butt hanging in a trap seat.

Jeremy has been running a ton of rake, which at his weight I think might be a mistake.

I'll get some pictures of the set up ths weekend.
