Posts: 334 Thunder Bay ON CAN | Mike- I just picked up two tubes Saturday. Couldn't get the 21-12-8 size either, ended up just using a 22-11-8 and it seemed to fill everything fine.
Let me know and I'll grab two more for you and I'll bring a set of tire spoons to the regatta and we can swap them out. I think they were about $6. Is it that easy to put the tubes in? | | | Re: Beach Wheel tubes

Why would it matter if there was dry rot on the tires? You're putting a tube in it, and they don't need much pressure to work in the sand.
Also, does anyone here do anything to preserve the life of the tires? Armor All or something to that effect. Does covering them (as in, with a tarp) help for long-term (winter) storage, or is it best to bring them indoors?
Mike It matters when they're dry rotted enough that the bead separates leaving an inner tube partially wrapped with a tire. Covering them definitely helps. Our N20 was setup with the beachwheels stored under the trampoline of the boat next to the storage box and I've configured my a-cat trailer the same way. Both have trampoline covers so the beach wheels are shaded from the sun.

Posts: 3,224 Roanoke Island ,N.C. | David needs to post a pic of his tire. That would explain alot. It looks like a tube with a bad re-tread.

Yep, took me longer to find the spoons, a pair of side cutters to cut off the valve stem, and remove the wheels than it did swap em out. Those tires are stupid soft, the have no tread, a ton of sidewall and no load capacity. Just about as easy as they come. | | | Re: Beach Wheel tubes

Posts: 1,253 Columbia South Carolina, USA | when I added the inner tube, it was only rotted, but 1 yr later it was a bad retread. The pressure on the old tire was more than enough to have "catastrophic" failure at an inoppurtune time
