Posts: 465 Oxford, UK | I've got one of these travelers on my Falcon, and the screws that hold the metal plate for the swivel cam cleat to the car have started to come loose. Does anyone know how to tighten them? You can't get a screwdriver onto them because the sheaves are in the way, so I guess you need to take the sheave assembly off, but I can't see how to do that. Any ideas? | | | Re: Harken traveler issue

On the old cars, I believe you had to take the end cap off each end of the traveler to slide out (by shaking) the pins. I'm not certain how you remove them on that traveler though - if my memory serves, the pin might be threaded and have a small flat-head slot on it...you would stick a small screwdriver into each end of the car to unscrew those pins.
Once you have that stainless bracket out of the car, you will have full access to the heads of the screws. Use locktight when putting it back together.

Posts: 465 Oxford, UK | OK, job done, but what a pain. Even with the right size screwdriver, the stupid little plastic screws got pretty mangled, and even when they're out, you're still stuck with small metal dowels stuck in a horizontal hole and no way to push them out. Would be easy given the right sized magnet, or the ability to turn the car on its side, but I eventually got them with a hand operated vacuum pump and some rubber tubing...
The grub screws got completely mangled going back in, but the loose screws are now done up proper tight with added threadlock so hopefully I'll never be doing that job again! | | | Re: Harken traveler issue
