AS far as “drilling holes in your bow’s”… I think you MUST have a bridal for the spin pole and at the tip of your bows is where you will have the most vertical angle. I THINK if you tried to tied to the jib bridal your angle would be horizontal and you run the risk of your pole inverting under strain… That could be VERY bad….
I didn't drill holes in my 5.2 bows, and I have no problem. Everything is going back to the bridal attachment points. The pole is rock solid, I can lift the boat with it and it's not moving up or sideway at all. I did induce quite a lot of camber on it however, just to be on the safe side.
