I have used a 1:2 hoisting system and it works well except you lose some ability to "force" the spi out of the snuffer hoop if it wadded up when going in and, since I wasn't able to use a 1:2 retrieval system (there is simply not enough "room" between the rear of the snuffer bag and attachment of the retrieval line to the spi and the rear beam to allow for the amount of line necessary- on my boat at least) it means there is a lot of "excess" halyard laying around when the spi is hoisted. I use a continuous halyard/retrieval line so this was a problem. If you used separate lines and the "dog leach" style take up spools this would negate that problem. I believe you have an F 18HT (Ventilo?)- Most of the US F 18HT's at the Nats used a midpole snuffer (the same "skunk" I have)- You might want to ask on their forum what halyard/retrieval system they found worked best-
