Mary, I've read with interest this thread and I must tell you I've never heard that from the woman's viewpoint this word means rape or violence against woman. That has given me pause. My father passed away 20 years ago but I can hear him clearly telling me "try to live your life as a gentleman. Never use language that you wouldn't want to say to your mother to her face.". I don't think I ever have used it on this forum (and probably wouldn't anyway) but I think I'll try to wipe it from my vernacular completely. Just because.....
