Seems like everytime I pull my boat out I'd forget the chip in the mast base. Loose it everytime. Except coming back from S. Padre one made it 1400 miles home. I buy em by the fist full, loose some, misplace others, actually wear out two a year and buy about 15. I've lost at least 2 Leathermans from leaving em on the tramp. Poor luck, or poor attentiveness to where I leave my stuff.
When I had my 16 I got tired off paying Hobie prices for the chips. Get a piece of pipe about the size of the chip. Take it to a grinding wheel and sharpen to a cutting edge. Go buy Teflon from a plastic supplier in sheets, Take a hammer and punch out your own. I did it in the 80's. Much cheaper!!!!
